Rhinoplasty Case
This young woman decided to meet with Dr. Rival because she was unhappy with the size and shape of her nose and also felt that her lips were too thin to balance out the rest of her features. When she met with Dr. Rival to discuss her options for Toronto cosmetic surgery, it became apparent that she felt that the excess tissue that hung down between her nostrils (visible in her pre-operative profile photograph), made her nose look droopy. Dr. Rival discussed the possible types of rhinoplasty and informed her that rhinoplasty to enhance the tip of the nose will often also expose more of the tissue of the upper lip. Together, they decided that this woman would receive septorhinoplasty as well as lip augmentation to improve her facial balance.
Dr. Rival performed an external-approach septorhinoplasty to straighten the nose and reduce its prominence. This procedure is a very individual and complex surgery requiring the surgeon to correct internal structural characteristics such as a deviated septum at the same time as he improves the external appearance of the nose. For this patient Dr. Rival straightened the nose, lifted the tip, and set it back closer to her face. JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel was also used to augment the upper and, to a lesser degree, the lower lip.
This woman’s post-operative photos were taken six months following surgery from Toronto rhinoplasty surgeon Dr. Rival. The patient clearly now enjoys a much straighter nasal bridge and tip as well as a visibly fuller upper lip, and the view from below reveals a well-healed external approach incision. The slight rounding in the tip of the nose is the result of scar tissue build-up under the skin and should improve with time or, if necessary, injections of Kenalog or another corticosteroid.
