Rhinoplasty for a Long Nose and Drooping Nasal Tip
Rhinoplasty is not limited to younger patients. Many people consider nose surgery later in life, often after spending years thinking about making a change. For this patient, the goal was to improve the shape and proportions of her nose while preserving a natural appearance that suited her facial features.
Before surgery, her nose appeared relatively long, with a prominent hump along the bridge and a tip that pointed downward. There was also some nasal deviation and a deviated septum that needed correction.
The procedure involved several carefully planned adjustments. The radix, where the nose begins between the eyes, was augmented to improve the transition from the forehead to the nasal bridge. The dorsal hump was reduced, and the nasal tip was lifted and refined to create a more balanced profile. The nasal deviation and deviated septum were also corrected.
The before and after photographs show the changes from several angles. From the side, the bridge appears smoother, and the tip sits in a more elevated position, reducing the appearance of nasal length. The three-quarter view highlights the softer transition along the bridge, while the front view shows improved nasal alignment.
One benefit of correcting a long nose and drooping tip is that these changes can create a more refreshed appearance without dramatically altering the patient’s natural features. In this case, the result maintains her facial character while improving the overall proportions of her nose.
Age alone does not determine whether someone is a suitable candidate for rhinoplasty. Overall health, medical history, nasal anatomy, and individual goals are more important considerations. For healthy adults, rhinoplasty can remain an option later in life.
We appreciate our patient allowing us to share her results. This case demonstrates how thoughtful adjustments to the bridge, nasal tip, and alignment can create a natural-looking result while maintaining facial harmony.
