Rhinoplasty Case
This woman underwent rhinoplasty in Toronto. She was concerned about the large hump on the bridge and felt her nose was too wide. She particularly felt the bridge was too wide near the top. She underwent an external approach septorhinoplasty. The hump was reduced and the bridge and tip were narrowed. The narrowing of the tip was somewhat limited by her thick skin. She does however show nice narrowing of her bridge. The nasal bridge is narrowed in rhinoplasty by performing what surgeons call osteotomies. These are fine cuts made in the bone that allow the bones to move inward at the end of the procedure. There are different ways of doing osteotomies depending on what the surgeon wishes to accomplish. The osteotomies are responsible for most of the bruising seen after rhinoplasty. Her post op results show a nice improvement in her profile and significant narrowing from the front view. The view from below shows a a more triangular base and a well healed external rhinoplasty incision.
