Case 35
A prominent nasal “hump” often makes a nose seem longer. This Toronto-area woman scheduled an appointment at Dr. Rival’s rhinoplasty clinic in Toronto to find out how cosmetic surgery could refine the shape of her nose by shortening it and reducing the bridge. In her first meeting with Dr. Rival, he examined her nose and found that the large nasal bridge and the abnormally wide nasal tip were partly to blame for making her nose appear so long. In the view from below the nose, you can also see some deviation in the “nasal pyramid,” the triangle created by the…

Case 61
This young Toronto woman disliked the appearance of her nose. She felt the tip was too wide and bulbous and prominent on her face. She was bothered by the bump on the bridge. She desired a more sloped bridge on profile. An external approach rhinoplasty was performed to allow significant tip work to be performed. She had relatively thick skin but despite this a significant improvement in tip definition and tip narrowing was accomplished. The bridge was reduced to the desired level to produce a more sloped soft feminine profile. The view from below shows the significant change in tip…

Case 78
This young woman had rhinoplasty in Toronto. She felt overall that her nose was too large. She was concerned however about reducing the nose too much. An analysis of her face revealed a nose that was over projected, slightly droopy or long and had a hump on the bridge. The nasal tip was also found to be somewhat wide or bulbous. She was noted also to have strong facial features with an attractive but prominent chin. Her rhinoplasty plastic surgery included lifting and setting back the tip closer to the face. Reduction of the nasal bridge hump and moderate narrowing…

Case 102
This young woman had a septoplasty and rhinoplasty in Toronto. She felt her nose was too long and droopy especially with smiling. The nose always pulls down a bit with smiling due to a muscle that attaches to the base of the nose called the depressor septi. She also disliked the convex shape of the bridge in profile and had a deviated septum that can be seen from the view showing the nostrils. She wanted a very feminine nose with significant change. After photos show the tip has been lifted and the nose shortened. The profile is much softer and…

Case 39
Previous injury had left this young man with a nose that severely deviated from its original, balanced position. In his consultation at our plastic and rhinoplasty surgery offices in Toronto, he explained that the awkward shape of his nose made him self-conscious of his appearance and even made breathing difficult. Dr. Rival and the patient discussed a few different options, focusing on ways to correct the bent shape of the patient’s nose, minimize his nasal “hump,” and elevate the drooping nosetip. Open rhinoplasty corrects the angle and shape of the nose by re-contouring the bone and cartilage that structure it.…

Case 62
This young woman suffered a nasal fracture. This resulted in the formation of a large hump on the nasal bridge near the top. There was also collapse of the bridge near the bottom where the bridge meets the tip ( the supratip area). A reconstructive rhinoplasty was performed to help restore the nasal contour. The dorsal hump was reduced and at the same time a cartilage graft taken from the nasal septum was used to rebuild her bridge. The tip was set back as well a small amount. While most nasal humps are genetic it does seem that some form…

Case 8
This Toronto area patient had a previous rhinoplasty done elsewhere many years ago. She was displeased with her pitched overprojected tip and had difficulty breathing. Revision rhinoplasty was performed using an external approach. The front view shows softening of her nasal tip and from the side the nose has been set back closer to the face. The view from below shows some widening of the nostrils that also helped her breathing. It also shows an example of the external approach incision at an early healing phase (1month) where redness can still be seen- this will fade with time. Gender: Female

Case 103
This young woman had rhinoplasty in Toronto. She disliked the prominence of her nose. She felt it was too long and hated the profile view. Her pre operative photos reveal that her nose is long and she has a bump on the bridge giving a convex shape to the profile. The nose is also seen to be wide form the frontal view taking up “too much room” on the face. She underwent a rhinoplasty through a closed approach. The tip was lifted and set back and narrowed. The bridge was reduced and narrowed. One can now see a much more…

Case 42
This young woman always felt her nose was too large for her face. In her consultation at our comfortable offices she explored a few different approaches to reshape her nose using rhinoplasty in Toronto. In her consultation, Dr. Rival assessed her facial structure and discussed her best options to correct her nasal bridge and the tip of her nose, which both project too far from her face. This creates a disproportionate look from a number of angles, as the nose draws attention away from the eyes and disrupts the balance created by the chin and forehead. In her procedure, Dr.…
