Case 99
This young woman disliked her nose particularly her profile. She was found to have a dorsal hump on the bridge, a somewhat wide tip that was slightly overprojected. It was also noted that her nose deviated to the left. She underwent a closed rhinoplasty to reduce the bridge, refine the tip and straighten the nose. Results of closed rhinoplasty in Toronto are shown at 10 months after surgery. Prospective patients can usually visualize what their nose will look like from the side but have trouble imagining what the change will be from the front. In general we hope that after…

Case 98
This young woman disliked her nose especially the profile. She felt it was too long and disliked the convex shape and long nostrils. She underwent a rhinoplasty in Toronto by Dr Rival. One can see that the bridge has been reduced and the tip lifted and set back. As a result the nostrils are also not as long from the side. The profile is now much softer with a nice supra tip break making the tip stand out nicely from the bridge.

Case 69
This young woman had rhinoplasty in Toronto. She disliked the appearance of her nose. In particular the rounded nature of the profile and width of the tip. Her case was complicated by the shape of her nostrils. The nostrils were angled upwards, sometimes called alar retraction. When this happens the inside of the nose is too visible from the side. Plastic surgeons refer to this an excess of collumellar show. When one raises the tip these nostrils will become more visible which can be un attractive. Therefore as part of the surgery we lower the rim of the nostrils placing…

Case 68
This young woman had a rhinoplasty elsewhere and was unhappy with the outcome. She had a persistent hump on the bridge. The tip was droopy and asymmetric and the nose appeared crooked. It was noted that the left tip cartilage ( the lower lateral cartilage) was larger and hung down more than the right tip cartilage. This produced a very asymmetric tip which can be seen also from the base view looking up the nostrils. An external revision rhinoplasty was performed to correct these concerns. Results are shown about 6 months after surgery. The bump has been reduced and the…

Case 7
This Toronto area patient felt that her nose was too prominent, and was also displeased with the large bump at the bridge. When she met with Dr. Rival at our plastic and rhinoplasty surgery offices in Toronto, she explained that she wanted a her nose to be straighter and smaller, and balance out the rest of her features. For patients who have more significant deformities, and in certain other cases, an “open” rhinoplasty is appropriate. For many other patients, though, Dr. Rival can perform the entire procedure as an “endonasal” procedure, through incisions hidden inside the nostrils. Based on this…

Case 71
This young woman did not like the shape of her nose. She had a convex shape to the profile with some ptosis of the tip. From the front the tip was a bit bulbous and had excess hanging in the region between the nostrils (sometimes called a hanging collumella). She underwent rhinoplasty in Toronto. A closed approach was the used. The bridge was reduced and the tip narrowed and lifted. She wished a natural looking straight profile and this was achieved. In a female nose especially we try to obtain a “supratip break.” This refers to the small depression before…

Case 72
This young man began researching rhinoplasty surgeons in Toronto to find out how to correct his overly prominent nose. During his consultation, Dr. Rival found that the man’s nose exhibited a large hump and over-projected bridge, as well as an over-projected tip. This patient’s preoperative photographs show how his crooked nose with its large, asymmetrical tip and nostrils caused his face to appear uneven. In his evaluation, Dr. Rival established that this man has quite thick skin, which would naturally limit the amount of reduction possible. People with this trait can still expect a smaller, more improved shape to the…

Case 73
This young woman underwent a rhinoplasty or nose job surgery in Toronto. Her main concern was that her nose was too wide overall for her face. The nasal tip was also slightly over projected and she had a bump on the nasal bridge. Analysis of her nose revealed quite thick skin and a nose that was wide both in the bridge region as well as the tip. Results are shown at about 1 year after an external approach septorhinoplasty. Despite her thick skin significant narrowing has been achieved from top to bottom of the nose. Nostril narrowing was not performed.…

Case 75
This young woman had rhinoplasty in Toronto. Overall she felt her nose was too large for her face. She disliked the hump on the bridge and the droopiness of the tip. Her nose was found also to be over projected and she had a large nasal spine which is a piece of bone at the bottom of the nostrils. Results are shown at 8 months after surgery. There has been a dramatic improvement in the profile. The hump has been reduced and the tip lifted and set back. From the front there is still some minimal swelling in the tip…

Case 76
This young woman had rhinoplasty in Toronto. She felt her nose was too prominent on her face. She felt the tip was too wide and disliked the hump and convex contour of her profile. She was found to have quite thick skin. Results are shown after an external approach ( open approach) septorhinoplasty at about 1 year. One can see a softer more feminine profile. The tip is more defined and narrower. This is somewhat limited by her thick skin. The view from below shows a narrower more triangular tip with a well healed external approach rhinoplasty incision.
